Initial Processing
After a stimulus has been exerted your brain responds and that information is actively processed during sensory memory which can occur in a variety of different ways. The information will need to move into short-term memory and “if new information is not brought into memory in a meaningful way, it will not be stored as memory” (Lutz & Huit, 2013). It is critical for the knowledge to be processed in the best possible way in order for a memory to be processed before forgetting begins and the knowledge is lost.
